Jessica Abt is a registered physiotherapist who has been practicing since 2022, with previous experience as a personal trainer. Her background in sport and strength training shapes the way she helps patients build confidence, restore movement, and work toward meaningful goals.
Jessica grew up in Alberta playing high-level hockey. That experience led her toward physiotherapy and helped develop her interest in treating youth athletes. She understands how important sport can be in a person’s life, especially for young athletes learning how to manage injury, training, confidence, and return to play.
Her clinical interests include IMS and orthopedic manual therapy. Jessica’s treatment style is exercise-based, supported by specific hands-on care when it can help patients reach their movement goals. She focuses on helping people understand what their body needs so they can feel stronger, more capable, and less afraid of movement.
Jessica especially enjoys seeing someone complete a movement they thought they would never be able to do. That moment captures much of what she works toward: helping people feel heard, hopeful, and more capable than when they arrived.

Approach to care
Jessica’s treatment is strongly exercise-based. She uses movement, strength, and progressive loading to help patients prepare their body for the activities they want to return to.
She also uses hands-on treatment when it supports the larger goal. Rather than treating manual therapy and exercise as separate pieces, Jessica blends them into a plan that helps people move better and build capacity over time.
Whether someone wants to return to a sport, keep up with their children, get back to the gym, or simply move through the day more comfortably, Jessica builds treatment around that goal. She uses meaningful milestones to guide progress and help patients see what they are capable of over time.
Quick tip
After an injury, you need to strike a balance between doing too much too soon and avoiding all activity for too long. A gradual plan can help you rebuild step by step.
Outside the clinic
Away from work, Jessica spends time with her husband, young daughter, and black lab. She loves mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, and enjoying the outdoors in British Columbia.
She also once hyperextended her knee in high school while trying to beat her mom’s 30-year-old long jump record. She didn’t beat it, but the story has aged well for someone who now helps other athletes recover from injury.
